Poll Disclosure

My new colleagues here at the BDN, Ethan Strimling and Phil Harriman, have posted some numbers for the U.S. Senate race from a poll conducted by Moore Consulting. The results are consistent with where the race likely is at this point, but the post itself is missing an important note: According to FEC expense reports, Moore is Charlie Summers’ pollster. If the campaign paid for this poll, that should be prominently disclosed.

As Nate Silver has noted, internal polls released publicly are usually about six points more favorable to the candidate releasing them than non-partisan polls from the same time period.
